Large cash and carry stores usually scan barcodes and run many tills. Dukaan POS has no scanning and one stock per shop. It fits a smaller trade counter where items are found by name and carton size, and where one or two cashiers bill at once.
1Cartons at speed
Trade buyers think in cartons. Add carton and bag packages with wholesale prices and bill by tapping the item and the package. The stock converts to pieces automatically, so loose sales from an opened carton remain correct.

2Cash buyers and credit buyers
Most trade buyers pay cash at the counter; regular ones may buy on account. The same bill handles both: take the amount paid and leave the rest on the buyer's page, so the counter keeps moving.
A good fit
- One or two tills
- Items found by name
- Carton billing
Not a fit
- Many tills
- Scanned item codes
- Several branches
3Special rates
Big buyers get agreed rates. Set a customer-specific price on a product and their bills use it automatically, so cashiers do not have to ask and mistakes do not creep in.
🧮 Carton to pieces calculator
Stock lives in one base unit, so any package converts cleanly.
4Two cashiers, one stock
Two tills can bill at once on different devices, each with its own login. Stock updates for both, so the same carton is not sold twice. Sales by cashier show who handled what.
5Reports for the owner
Daily sales, customer dues and stock valuation answer the day-to-day questions. Product sales shows which cartons move fastest, helping you decide what to stock deepest.
6Honest speed limits
Because items are found by name, speed depends on how well your catalogue is named and organised. Spend a little time on clear names and categories, and billing stays quick without scanning.
7A worked example
A trader loads 8 cartons of biscuits, 5 of tea and 3 bags of rice, billed at wholesale rates for Rs 94,000. He pays Rs 94,000 in cash and is gone in three minutes. Another buyer takes a similar load for Rs 81,000 and pays Rs 40,000, with the rest on his page. Both are billed the same way, and both leave the right stock behind.
8Naming and organising for speed
Without scanning, speed comes from names. Put the brand first, then the product, then the size, and group by supplier or category. Add the carton package to each item. Spend a morning cleaning names, and your cashiers will find any item in a few letters instead of scrolling.
9What to test in the free trial
Add twenty fast products with carton packages, create two trade buyers and time yourself billing a ten-line wholesale order. If billing by name feels fast enough once the catalogue is tidy, you are in good shape. If you cannot work without scanning, you will know straight away.
10Keeping credit buyers honest
Trade credit is where cash and carry stores get hurt. Agree a limit with each credit buyer, check their balance as you bill and review the dues list weekly. A buyer who is slow on one invoice should not take a second until the first is paid, and the record makes that conversation easy.
