1One product, two prices
Each product can hold a retail price and a wholesale price. At the top of the sell screen, you choose Retail or Wholesale for that sale, and every item takes the matching price. A 50 kg bag of sugar might sell at Rs 7,500 retail and Rs 7,350 wholesale; the cashier does not need to remember either number.
| Item | Retail | Wholesale |
|---|---|---|
| Sugar, per kg | Rs 150 | Rs 147 |
| Sugar, 50 kg bag | Rs 7,500 | Rs 7,350 |
| Cooking oil, per litre | Rs 520 | Rs 510 |

2Prices for bags, cartons and packs
If you sell in packages, such as a bag, carton, crate or dozen, each package can carry its own retail and wholesale price. If you leave a package price blank, the app works it out from the base unit price. That means a customer who buys a carton gets the carton price, and one who buys loose pieces gets the per-piece price, without anyone calculating at the counter.
Without a system
- Two notebooks and two price lists
- Rates memorised
- Mistakes at the counter
With Dukaan POS
- One catalogue, two prices
- Customer rates saved
- Mode chosen per bill
3Special rates for individual customers
Some wholesale customers are on negotiated rates. On a customer's page you can set a rate for specific products, and wholesale sales to that customer use their rate in place of the standard wholesale price. Remove the rate at any time and they return to the normal price. This keeps negotiated deals out of the cashier's head.
🧮 Carton to pieces calculator
Stock lives in one base unit, so any package converts cleanly.
4Wholesale buyers and credit
Trade customers often buy on credit. Wholesale sales work with named customers, part payments and due dates, so the balance, the payment history and the dues report all reflect them. You can see in one list which trade customers owe you and since when.
5Switching wholesale off if you do not need it
A shop that only sells retail can switch the wholesale option off in settings so that the screen stays uncluttered. If you start selling to trade customers later, you can switch it back on and add wholesale prices.
6Pricing mistakes to avoid
The most common problem with two price levels is a wholesale price that is too close to cost, so a large order earns almost nothing. Check each wholesale price against the item's average cost before you rely on it. The next is forgetting to enter a wholesale price at all, in which case wholesale sales fall back to the retail price, so a trade customer pays more than they expect. Review your top trade items once a month.
