1Dozens and cartons to pieces
Plastic items arrive by the dozen or the carton and sell by the piece. Add a dozen or carton package to each product and receive in that unit; stock is held in pieces. A carton of 24 laundry baskets becomes 24 pieces, and selling three leaves 21 without any manual arithmetic.

2Many items, small margins
With low prices, a few rupees of margin matter. The gross profit report uses your average buying cost, so when a supplier raises prices the new cost flows through and shows what you now earn. That prompts a timely price change, not a surprise at the month end.
Without a system
- Margins of a few rupees unmonitored
- Dozens counted by hand
- Seasonal items guessed
With Dukaan POS
- Costs update with each purchase
- Packages convert automatically
- Season sales to plan from
3Retail and wholesale
Many household shops sell to neighbours and also to smaller shops. Keep a retail price and a wholesale price on each product and choose the mode when you bill. Regular trade customers can have their own khata with payments recorded as they come in.
🧮 Carton to pieces calculator
Stock lives in one base unit, so any package converts cleanly.
4Seasonal swings
Buckets, coolers and fans peak in summer; heaters and blankets in winter. Read product sales at the end of each season to decide what to buy next, and use low stock alerts on the items that sell all year.
5Cleaning goods with dates
Detergents and disinfectants can carry expiry dates. Switch on expiry tracking for those products and enter the date on delivery. Items with no date, such as buckets, need no tracking.
6Shelf space and fast lines
With hundreds of cheap items, shelf space is the real limit. Product sales shows which items earn the most per month, so you can give them the best places and reduce the number of slow lines. Often twenty percent of products bring most of the income. Keep those in stock without fail, and review the rest every season.
7Pricing small items
Items priced at Rs 80 or Rs 150 leave little room for error. When a supplier raises prices by Rs 10, your margin may drop by a third. Because each purchase updates your cost, the profit report shows the effect quickly, and you can change shelf prices within days rather than discovering the squeeze at the month end.
8Getting started in one weekend
A household shop can be set up over a weekend. Enter your fifty best sellers first with their prices and packages, then add the rest category by category as you restock. Record opening stock from a quick count of the shelves. By Monday the counter can bill from the app, and the catalogue grows each day as you meet products you have not yet added.
